Summer is here in Idyllwild and I’m back on the bike – good times are abound. I’ve been sneaking in a few rides lately and am feeling close to normal. The weather’s been great and the trails awesome. Here a a few pics from our recent excursions.
This is Brendan on the Sunset trail – aptly named as we hit it on the way home – right around sunset.
I’m getting better on my bike on the singletrack again, but I’ve gotta relearn these techy trails. A month of dirt roads just makes you forget how to handle this craziness.
I didn’t make it all the way up the rock on Snakeskin, but this was the first time I finally felt like giving it a go – it’s gonna go next time!
I made it through the Roman Highway even though it seemed a little different than last time. I saw Brendan dab, which gave me a little more incentive. 🙂
I’ve also been leading women’s rides – this was Missy’s first big kid ride and she rocked it 🙂
Great pictures! Glad to hear that you are coming back! Any races on the radar?

Mary- indeed, the riding has been killer recently, especially since we got a little rain and things have cooled off a bit.
Chris- I love my WBR jersey! Pretty much my go-to garb for hot days, thanks to the long zip and lighter color.

Awesome Mary. Sounds like you are being patient with yourself, tis a good thing! No stranger to deep fatigue, I’ve learned that when it hits there really isn’t anything but time to dig out of it.

Nice pictures. Glad to see you’re back in the swing of things. 29.x days on a bike is a LONG time, so remember to enjoy the return to normalcy 🙂
I’m planning to be in Idyllwild in late Nov. and would love to do some riding there. Hope I might be able to hook up with you and Brendan, if for nothing else, to get some trail advice and buy you both a beer.

Good job there Mary – awesome to see ya on the trails again!
As for the techy stuff….set up a bike with the stem and handlebars really high, maybe even try a rigid fork with it. Should help you regain that sense of balance like a trials biker.
