We’ve made it to Butte Montana and our drive has been crazy. After having a kickoff party Saturday night, we rolled out Sunday to Tucson to pick up our travelmate and good friend, Matt – and also drop off a complete bike for John. In Tucson, it was just over 100 degrees and we were excited roll out and get up on the plateau where it was cooler. We gave Katie a Katie-pile then picked up a few small things in town and rolled out.
Heading north, the scenery was not less than amazing for the whole drive. We drove up through Flagstaff, then around the Grand Canyon. Monday was a long day of driving that put us just outside Zion Nat’l park a little ways from St. George, UT.
We stopped over in St. George yesterday to chat with Lynda and Dave and deliver Dave’s frame. Yesterday was an 11 hour driving day that brought us into a chilly Montana. In Lima, Brendan enabled us to test the spot’s shock resistance at 85 mph by leaving it on top of the car. It’s still showing up on the leaderboard! We stayed in a motel last night and when checking in the guy at the desk asked,”California…you cold?” Brendan told him it was a little chilly (it was 38) and then he told us, “wait till in the morning.” Hmmm, it didn’t stick till we woke up and looked out the window – Friggin snow in JUNE!!
So, today we’re heading to Banff with hopes that this stuff will move on out. Here are some pics from the journey so far! Also, I’ve added some important links that I’ve been promising. Check out the leaderboard along the way for details on the race.
Sharepage for my spot, which will give a better idea of my rate of speed etc.
